Catch the Tram – Catch the Art

Art Basel dazzled art lovers both online and onsite with the latest edition of its Hong Kong show, which featured 130 top galleries from 28 countries and territories. This was the second time for the hybrid version, which bought together art lovers from around the world for three days of viewing and networking. Activities included Online Viewing Rooms, live-streamed videos, virtual tours, and multilingual VIP and public walkthroughs.

Highlights included the first major co-commission project by Art Basel and Hong Kong’s new M+ museum, The Shape of Light, a site-specific moving image work by Ellen Pau presented on the M+ Façade. The show also saw the launch of the Artist Tram Project with work by Cherie Cheuk, Stephen Wong and Shum Kwan-yi, commissioned by Art Basel and co-presented by theHong Kong Tourism Board. The artists’ works were projected onto the exteriors of Hong Kong iconic trams that run through the busy streets of Hong Kong island.
