Eyes on the Future

Under the theme “Eyes on the Future: Innovating Ophthalmology”, APAO enabled professionals and experts to share cutting-edge research and explore the latest trends in eyecare. Keynote lectures, symposiums, workshops, wet lab courses and other scientific sessions allowed participants to engage in in-depth dialogue, update medical knowledge and sharpen clinical skills.

The expert symposium – the flagship programme of the congress – focused on innovations shaping the future of ophthalmology. The public health luncheon covered “myopia prevention and control from China to the global stage”. The efforts discussed were geared at driving long-term improvements on quality, accessibility and sustainability of eyecare services.

With support from the Hong Kong Government’s Information and Technology Fund, APAO 2026 launched a series of new activities to spotlight new breakthroughs in ophthalmology. Public outreach and expert engagements leading up to and during the congress enhanced community understanding of eye health.
