HK – the ‘Art’ of Asia-Pacific
More than half of participating galleries at Art Basel Hong Kong were from the Asia-Pacific region, highlighting the fair’s vital role as a platform for the region’s dynamic art scene. The show, which took place at the HKCEC in late March, brought together 240 exhibitors from 42 countries and territories, including 23 newcomers, presenting an in-depth overview of the region’s diversity, as well as global artistic perspectives through Modern and contemporary works. The fair attracted an overall attendance of 91,000 throughout its VIP and public days.
Among the highlights was Encounters, the show’s curated sector dedicated to large-scale projects that featured 18 exceptional installations, more than half of which were created especially for the fair; HKCEC pulled out all the stops to ensure that all the artworks were displayed to best effect. In addition, Conversations at Art Basel Hong Kong 2025 brought together leading figures to examine the forces driving the world of art and culture today. The panels will cover topics ranging from the evolution of Southeast Asian patronage to artists' engagement with AI.
