Unsure about how Municipal Solid Waste Charging, to be implemented by the Hong Kong government on 1 August, will affect your events? At the recent Organiser & Contractor Co-ordination Meeting, HML took the opportunity to introduce and explain MSW charging. Its purpose is to drive behavioural and cultural changes, and to encourage different sectors of the community to cherish resources and proactively practise waste reduction at source as well as clean recycling, thus reducing overall waste disposal.
For stakeholders’ better understanding, HML demonstrated how municipal solid waste will be handled at HKCEC after the implementation of MSC charging this summer. For more details of MSW charging, please visit the government website at https://www.mswcharging.gov.hk/.
This is an example of how HML consistently takes a leadership role to influence stakeholders, including event organisers, contractors, suppliers, business partners and visitors. Safety-related issues and HML’s sustainability initiatives are brought up during the biannual Organiser & Contractor Co-ordination Meeting.
