Uniform Environmental Friendliness

HML’s commitment to sustainability guides every aspect of operations, from building design to daily operations. Using eco-friendly fabrics for staff uniforms, will help to protect the environment while ensuring the comfort of staff members.

Since 2024, nearly 3,000 pieces have been ordered that are made from sustainable materials such as lyocell, bamboo and recycled polyester. These uniforms include shirts, suits, dresses and jeans, and are worn by staff in our Atrium Chinese Restaurant and Harbour Road Café, as well as Security staff, Catering staff and Event Executives.

Bamboo, renowned for its rapid growth and minimal environmental impact, is a standout sustainable resource. Unlike cotton, which requires extensive water and pesticide use, bamboo grows with little intervention, needing no chemical fertilizers and minimal irrigation.

Lyocell is a semi-synthetic fabric derived from cellulose, usually eucalyptus wood. It is produced through an eco-friendly closed-loop process that recycles water and non-toxic solvents. Known for its softness, breathability, moisture-wicking properties and durability, lyocell serves as a sustainable alternative to cotton or silk in clothing and home textiles.

Beyond its eco-friendly raw materials, these fabrics offer numerous benefits to the wearer. The sustainable uniforms are lighter, stylish, breathable, soft and recyclable, allowing for a second life and reducing waste.
