The HKCEC buddy “ExhiBit” and green ambassadors were on hand to promote recycling messages to exhibitors and visitors at the 2025 Hong Kong Book Fair, held in mid-July. Through the Green @ HKCEC campaign, HML placed waste sorting and recycling bins for food waste, waste paper, aluminium cans, plastic, glass bottles, beverage cartons and general waste at food courts for visitors and exhibitors. Buddy “ExhiBit” and the Green @ HKCEC ambassadors encouraged people to separate and put food waste and other waste into recycling bins correctly. Another 20 green ambassadors assisted exhibitors in separating and recycling waste properly at the end of the Book Fair.
A total of 115 kg of food waste was collected from Food@Grand Hall and Food@Hall 3FG and was delivered to O・Park1, the Hong Kong government’s food waste processing facility, which turns food waste to renewable energy. In addition, 942 kg of plastic wrap used for transport and delivery of exhibits was collected during the move-in and move-out periods.
During the show, 85% of the Fair’s exhibitors selected reusable utensils when they pre-ordered meal boxes from HML. To thank exhibitors for their strong support, a HK$2 discount was offered for each pre-ordered meal box.
Heartfelt thanks go to all the organisers, exhibitors, visitors and contractors who supported “Green @ HKCEC”.
