HML recently collaborated with a recycling supplier which collected 4,000 kg of old uniforms – after recycling and processing, they were transformed into environmentally friendly carpets.
This initiative is part of HML’s sustainability strategy that guides every aspect of our operations, from building design to daily operations. In the case of the carpets, they were treated with antibacterial and flame-retardant properties, and then supplied to the HKCEC for reuse, fulfilling the goal of "turning old waste into new carpets".
In recognition of the adoption of sustainable uniforms and participation in textile recycling initiatives, HML received the iRecycle Sustainability Award (Silver) at the iRecycle ESG Award 2026, organised by iRecycle Charity Foundation. HML’s efforts in reducing textile waste and supporting circular economy practices contribute meaningfully to carbon reduction and industry sustainability standards. The iRecycle Sustainability Award recognises organisations that demonstrate strong commitment to ESG principles, green procurement practices, and measurable environmental impact.
